1. Diabetes Mellitus

Diabetes mellitus is the most common endocrine disease characterized by high blood glucose levels. It is caused by defective functioning of one the endocrine glands i.e. pancreas. If not diagnosed or treated in the early stages, it can lead to various complications like loss of vision, kidney failure, nerve dysfunction and reduced sensation, foot ulcers and amputation, heart attack, stroke and sexual dysfunction. Diabetes predisposes the patient to acquire infection and uncontrolled diabetes can result into premature ageing and can decrease longevity.

India is diabetes capital of the world as it unfortunately is home to the largest number of diabetics in the world, around 40 million people. Disorders of the thyroid gland like hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism and thyroid nodules are also very common in general population. Hypothyroidism is associated with lethargy, reduced exercise tolerance, weight gain and leads to poor quality of life. Hyperthyroidism is associated with weight loss, palpitations, tremors, heat intolerance and increased stool frequency. These disorders if untreated, affect growth and development of children. 3. Reproductive Endocrinology

Hormonal disorders of reproductive system can affect person of any age.
